Just got home after the Gig at My Place. It was a very enjoyable and I think I played pretty well. As it was a competition gig and only 4 tracks allowed my final set list was as follows.

The first 2 I played with backing and the last 2 were Acoustic. I unfortunately didn't get through to the next round but I played well. The feedback from people was very encouraging, I handed out a lot of promotional postcards and CD's so it was well worthwhile. It is definately a venue that I will look to play again sometime.

Another gig looms up next week and this one as I've mentioned before in blog entries has got a different flavour to it. This gig is a competition gig with this being a knock out round with the final being held at the end of the year. I have to play 4 original songs of around 4 minutes in length and the best song and artist on the night are rewarded. I have been trying to work out which songs flow together. my initial thought is the following

I am trying to keep calm but it is difficult when you have just somehow lost a few weeks work. I tried to clean up my music computer and mistakenly deleted some of the files from the Live DVD project. No problem I would restore them from my archive backs ups. But for some reason I have a few corrupted files on the archive but it makes it impossible to restore completely. So I need to work out what I have to do again. It is very frustrating as this means as that I am further behind with this than I wanted to be. Deep breath and relax

I may have mentioned before that I have been entered into a national competition for Singer Songwriters, well the first heat was due to be on the 6th June, unfortunately due to un-foreseen circumstances it has had to delayed for a few weeks until the 29th June. The concept of the competition is to get artists to play a set of 3 songs against others in a shoot out to go through to the next heat. The final will be held towards the end off the year as part of a live music festival.
