That's the Key

Hi

Well every recording artist needs a record company and that's what I am in the process of creating, Key Music Records is being born. The idea of this company is to make it possible for me to release my records and more importantly get them properly registered with PPL the UK's governing body for record labels. It will take a couple of months to get all the paper work sorted but the wheels are rolling now.

On a different note I am off to LA in week so it's back to travelling man again, Hollywood sign here I come,

eCommerce or shopping to you and I

Hi

Well it's back to the research again and this time how to incorporate an eCommerce side to the website, eCommerce??, you know shopping, I need to be able to have the ability to sell my stuff online, the CD's as well as downloads, so I have been researching how to do it, being ever the optimist I think I can do it all myself, :-), oh no more late nights, well with all of this stuff once you have done it once then you have the knowledge to do it again, besides I hate paying someone when I can do it myself. Famous last words well maybe.

Live decisions

Hi

Well it's back to the music again and this time it's working out tracks for live work, I have decided to go for 2 formats of show, playing straight acoustic like the Dream on track I played at the end of "The story so far" interview plus playing live to a backing track, this second format is a little different than you may imagine. So watch this space for some announcements on live work coming soon.

My first review

Hi

Well the one thing about the internet is that you can effectively get any service you may require, indeed some maybe, well a little bit undesirable, anyway I really wanted to try and get some feedback on some of my music so I posted a track on Garageband.com and waited for some response, it didn't take too long to get a review, so here it is my first review.

Track: The day the walls fell in

Song: First of all, the intro has a very strong MIX and mood that just captures you right away! Great usage of the effects in the RIGHT way! That synthesizer effect on the intro was perfect too match that Bass line very well. BASS Guitar has a strong choice of sound that keeps a smooth foundation for the vocals with his/her range, and structure. Drums, well snare is perfect, not too loud, and everything sounds nice an toned out, BUT I would like to hear those tombs a little more toned out. VOCALS: GOod lyrics, but he sounds good, just might be off in some of his notes in being just a tad bit FLAT, but that's ok, still sounds goood.
PRODUCTION: Great Mix, I can hear everything nice and clearly.

iTunes was worth the wait

Hi

Over the last 2 months as you know I have been working on the podcast side of the site, at the start I knew that to really get this established I had to get listed on the iTunes music store podcast section. The feed for this has to comply to all the guidelines set out by Apple, anyway to cut a long story short yesterday I was listed after a long, long wait, and it was worth it as now you can launch iTunes, click on the Music Store section and search for Richard Hingley, then I appear, wow!, so easy to subscribe. So the morale is good things do come to those who wait.

It's your Lyrics

Hi

Back to the music again, I am in the middle of refining a track called "It's your life", this has been on the back burner while all the website stuff has been going on, anyway I have eventually finished the lyrics - phew!. The music itself will be on the site in the next few days, but if you would like to read the lyrics click here

Travelling Ben

Hi

Well never the one to miss an opportunity, it was a gorgeous autumn day today in London so out with the camera and off to start some London filming for Travelling Man, there are so many recognisable landmarks in London so which to choose first, start with the most famous I suppose, my house?, nope Big Ben, well actually the Houses of Westminster as Big Ben is actually the name of the bell not the tower which is St Stephen's tower. I was actually standing in parliament square doing the video and not a Policeman to arrest me. I wanted to get some footage with the London eye which is just across Westminster Bridge but the sun was in the wrong place, next time.

Planes, trains and automobiles with fog

Hi

Well what a day I have had, a real adventure, one of those days that whatever could go wrong would go wrong and it did, but I'm going to save most of it for a subsequent podcast in The adventures of a Travelling Man series. In a nutshell I was trying to get some footage for the Travelling Man video but it didn't all go according to plan, with a delayed start due to heavy fog I then had a whole series of mishaps starting with my mobile phone running out of battery, to nearly missing my flight by the closest of margins. Anyway I did get some footage as you can see but the real story of what happened is to come.

I need a spotlights glare

Guten Abend

Here I am in Munich on another brief trip, I actually arrived early for a change and with the weather being so good I thought I'd try and get some video shots at the Olympic Stadium, Unfortunately I didn't quite realise how far out I'm staying from the city and with heavy traffic going into Munich by the time I arrived the sun had already gone down :-(

I might get another chance early on Saturday morning, I just hope the weather stays good.

The Adventures of a Travelling Man

Hi

Ok I know I said my next blog would be from Munich but I just had to let you know what I've been up to over the last day or so. The Travelling Man escapades struck me as quite entertaining all the bizarre situations I've found myself in so I have decided to turn these into podcast short stories called "The adventures of a Travelling Man", The first of these "Episode 1 - Dubai" I've just finished recording and will be on the podcast feed over the next couple of days. If nothing else it will definitely cause a few emails :-). If you have already subscribed to podcasting@richardhingley.com then the episodes will be downloaded the next time you synch to the feed. If you haven't, well what are you waiting for - See you in Munich.

Munchen Glad to be back

Hi

Well the trip around the UK has finished and I'm home for a couple of days before going off again to Munich (Munchen), no rest for the Travelling Man, talking about that yes I will be taking my video camera to hopefully get some shots in Munich, I think that either the Town hall or the Olympic park are the most likely places to try and film, hopefully the weather will be good unlike the washout that was Bristol. So until Munich - Auf Wiedersehen

Googled

Hi

Well best laid plans and all that, the idea of filming at the Clifton suspension bridge was a good one but unfortunately I was thwarted by the weather, looking like drowned rat playing a guitar didn't look to appealing, I'll be back as someone once said.

Always looking for ways to promote the site I have taken the plunge in advertising with Google ad-words, this easy to use advertising method is a way of only paying a small amount when someone clicks to the site. These are the side bar ad's on the right when someone searches for certain words. I will let you know how things go.

Suspense?

Hi

Still on my travels and now they have taken me to Bristol in the UK. Bristol has many things to excite the camera but none as spectacular as the Clifton suspension bridge. Yep you guessed it, I'm going to be playing my guitar there at some point over the next 2 days, well Brunel would have wanted it to feature in the Travelling Man video wouldn't he?. I thought about doing a bungee jump with my guitar in hand but thought better of it after 3.27 seconds! :-). We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Travelling Man again

Hi

Well i'm on my travels again, this time a weeks work tour around the UK, starting in Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff, and finally Bristol. As always on my travels I take the camera and video camera with me just in case, anyway I found a little bit of time to nip over to Edinburgh to get some footage with the Forth railbridge and Edinburgh Castle, it wasn't the best view of the castle as I couldn't get too close, the sun was in the wrong direction for the view I wanted. Anyway have a look at the pics and I promise to post a rough edit of the video soon.

eNews success

Hi

Well the first issue of eNews successfully went out of the door - phew!, I was worried that the automatic distribution which I was using for the first time hadn't been set up correctly. But it worked without a hitch. So that's another hurdle out of the way as the template is set up now so next month should be easier - famous last words!.
