The never ending job of editing and creating the Live DVD!, I know, I know it's taking a long time but there is so much to do. I think it is starting to get there, well I've said that before haven't I but I do think at last I have turned a corner with it. I think people will be surprised by the finished article.

The end of another month and tomorrow I will writing another eNews to send out in a few days time. This will be eNews issue No 9!!, I can't quite believe it's coming up to a year since I started the site, it seems to have flown by.

Back again after a few days off, today I recorded a demo of the song I wrote a few days ago entitled "it's all about". It still needs a lot of work but the basis of the track is there. I'm not sure which direction the finished track will take yet but i'm going to experiment with different ideas to what works. if you would like to hear the demo

Just a quick note to say I am going to take a few days off from all website and music related issues and take a break. Every few months I have found I need to take a few days off to take a step back from all that is going on and look at it fresh eyes. So I will be back in a few days with hopefully some new focus.

Well the new song is coming on well, I really like it but then again the latest song always has something special. It works really well just acoustic guitar and voice but it can obviously be arranged to go in different directions, I will experiment with some different instruments and rhythms and speeds to see what suits it best.

The live DVD is still in progress, yes I know it's taking time but there is a lot to do, I am doing everything myself from video and audio editing to the artwork so it's doing one thing at a time. I haven't set a release date yet, it depends on how far I can get over the next few weeks.

It just happens sometimes, you pick up the guitar and start playing and before you know it you are writing a new song, well that is what happened today. It started out as practice session and I was trying a slightly different ending to "the last time" and a few chords seemed to gel together, it stood out so much that I just had try and work on it. Well after a few hours I had the basis of a new song which has a working title of "it's all about". It needs more work but I think it has some real potential. I will let you know how it progresses.

Well it's more work on the live DVD, there are few slight issues I have encountered more to do with sync drift between the live camera sound and the sound recorded from the mixing desk. Sync drift is when the audio and video move out of time with each other, I know what the problem is and it should be ok to sort it out with some slight tweaks here and there. I am still unsure about how and when to look at releasing it, obviously there is more work to do but I want to get it released before the end of the summer, better get on with it :-)

Well I have been continuing to mix the Live CD/DVD "Live from London" that I recorded at the tube club in March, it's coming on really well but I want to really try and make it as good as I can. I am quite surprised how well I played especially as most of the tracks were being performed live for the first time. I haven't set a release date yet but I think it will be some time in July.

It's been a really productive day in the eCommerce website build for Key Music Records, this is the first time I have built a site with a shop in it and as always there is so much to learn, anyway I have created a basic store and been able to buy online using a credit card and get some digital downloads delivered. There is so much more still to do but it's a really good start and I would say that most of the building blocks are now done ready for the finishing touches. I suppose I'd better get some content finished :-)

Another eNews is about to hit the wires although a little later than normal, this will be the 8th issue and it will be focusing on the current video shooting I did in the states. This shooting for "Traveling man" was in Las Vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite National Park and San Francisco, you can read about in earlier posts. Right back to the writing.

Well after staring to build the online shop I have come into some problems that need to be addressed, one is the security access for online payments, this is what is called SSL, this gives you a secure area in your site. Once you have this setup the address will start with https:// instead of http://. Anyway this security layer is proving to be quite difficult to implement, I think I am missing something very basic which I haven't worked out yet. Without this layer the security for online payments can't be guaranteed. back to some studying

I have started the long task of creating the eCommerce side of the site, well actually the Key Music Records site. eCommerce for you and me is being able to buy stuff off the site. This process can take quite a while and as I will probably monitoring and updating this I really want to know what is involved in putting it all together, ever the inquisitive one! One of the main things that I want to achieve is to have the ability to buy digital downloads (mp3's or similar) this also has some problems as mp3's have no copy protection or DRM (digital rights management) so I am going to have to look around to try and find a suitable copy protection mechanism, ah the wonders of technology.... well no not really, just more work.
